More about Massage Therapy…
Swedish Massage
Still one of the most popular styles of massage received today. A combination of light or firm pressure with a variety of strokes designed to increase circulation, increase relaxation, decrease stress, and provide an overall sense of well-being. All the external stressors most of us face today have negative influences on our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves. Take 60-90 minutes for a mini get-away to recharge, restore, and revitalize yourself.
Hot Stone Massage
Smooth Basalt (lava/volcanic rock) stones retain heat and are placed on specific areas of the body. Stones are heated between 130-145 degrees Fahrenheit. Hot stone massage is a 90-minute session. It includes hot stone placement on areas of increased muscular tension followed by aromatherapy and a full body massage with hot stones.
Placement of stones:
Along spine
Sacrum
Stomach
Chest
Palms
Feet and toes
Massage is performed while holding heated stones using Swedish Massage techniques:
Circular movements
Kneading
Long connecting strokes
Tapping
Vibration
Warm stones glide across tight muscles with a deep soothing heat and can also be used to apply deeper pressure as a tool to release muscular restrictions. The session ends with a hot towel wrap for the feet and cold stones may be added to the face, per client request. Cold stones can also be used during a Hot Stone Massage. Cold stones can be used to calm and soothe the skin, inflammation, and can feel good on the sinuses. Hot/cold stone massage may be helpful for a variety of conditions. See list of examples below.

Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is useful in treating joint pain, easing muscle stress, alleviating headaches, and promoting relaxation. A vascular flush can be created by alternating cold and hot causing blood vessels to contract and dilate thus stimulating circulation, lymphatic drainage and helping to decrease inflammation. Often overlooked in many ways, hydrotherapy can be one of the easiest and best practices for massage therapists. It is a great practice for self-care, to increase humidity in your treatment room and makes for a great addition to many massage modalities. This service is provided to you at no additional charge! Whether it is a fomentation hot pack, cold gel packs, ice massage, hot/cold stones, or topicals this can benefit your overall massage experience. Hydrotherapy is designed to create a vascular flush in the body. This process forces stagnant blood out of an area and brings new blood flow carrying fresh oxygen and nutrients to help accelerate the healing process. Hydrotherapy is optional and not every client is interested.
Please let us know if you would like hydrotherapy when scheduling your appointment. If you are being treated for Diabetes or have current circulatory health concerns, please consult with your PHP, and advise your therapist accordingly.
Prenatal Massage
Pregnancy can take its toll on the human body, mind, and spirit. And it is always with great humility to support these amazing women during their gestation. It helps to know the physiological changes as well as the hormonal and psychological changes a woman endures in this process. The focus is often primarily placed on the soon-to-be-baby and the mother (woman) gets lost in her role. It is a joy and privilege to bring the awareness and connection back to herself and help her reconnect with her body as well as the life she is providing. Props, pillows, bolsters, and side-lying position have proved to be great tools to increase optimal comfort for these mamas. Feel free to bring your own body pillow, cushions, or whatever support items necessary to feel more relaxed and at ease.
Prenatal Massage Therapy Benefits:
Decreases anxiety.
Decreases stress.
Improves mood.
Improves sleep.
Reduces back, hip and leg pain.
Reduces labor pain during childbirth.
There can be contraindications or massage modifications necessary to discuss prior to appointment. Please consult your primary healthcare provider and discuss in detail with your therapist to create the best and safest experience for you and your baby.
Reflexology
Reflexology, or Zone therapy is work primarily done with the focus to the hands and feet. We have pressure points on our hands, feet, and ears that correlate with different organ systems and area of the body. Some clients have reported after receiving a reflexology session, they feel as if they have received a full body massage. Reflexology is not for everyone, especially if you do not like your feet touched. But it can be a great way to introduce a first-time client to bodywork. Specific zones on the feet are cleared, and pressure points are worked on both dorsal and plantar surfaces of the feet; followed by a hot towel wrap for feet and light cranial face massage if desired. Wearing loose comfortable clothing is best. This is a 60-minute session.
