Psychological Resilience

Life is 10% what you make it and 90% how you take it. We can not always control what happens to us but we can control how we react or respond to what happens. Pause. Take a deep breath (or two) and count to 10. Ask yourself, does this have something to do with me? Am I safe? Can I move on or do I need to respond? By taking a moment to properly assess what is happening you have a better chance to remove yourself from potentially negative thoughts or situations.

MENTAL WELL-BEING
Be mindful of the energy vampires that suck the life and positivity from you. Surround yourself with those who are positive, uplifting, and make you feel loved and appreciated for being you.

Many of us have been exposed to some form of mental illness to one degree or another. The topic is still considered taboo in certain cultures or classes of people and can create uncomfortable feelings or discussions with one another. A strong mind can be a valuable asset and a detriment at the same time. We are our own worst critic and cynic. If we can not love ourselves for who we are how can we receive love from others. It is time we change the conversation to include, ‘you are not your illness’ and ‘it is okay not to feel okay,’ and ‘it is okay to ask for help’ or talk it out with friends, loved ones, and clergy. Self-love is vitally important. Your body follows your mind (thoughts) and your body alerts your mind to things. We must work to help these be more in sync with one another and our environment. A simple change of scenery, a heart-felt conversation, a good laugh and sometimes a good cry can move mountains in maintaining positive psychological wellness.

Mental Fitness, Mental Wellness, “Mental Wealth”

Call it what you will, our mental health is just as important as our physical health and should not be neglected. Guided meditations can help! If you have 5-10 minutes a day, you can begin a meditation practice that accommodates your lifestyle, giving yourself time and space to relax and restore your body and mind.
